Staff Microsoft Authenticator - Add device

To register a new device (phone, tablet, etc) to your account for Microsoft Authenticator:

  1. On your computer, go to the Security info page of your account dashboard.
    Sign in or click on the following links after logging into outlook.office.com:

  2. Select Add sign-in method.

     

  3. Choose Microsoft Authenticator from the dropdown and select Add.

  4. Once you have Microsoft Authenticator installed on your phone, select Next to display a QR code.

  5. Open Microsoft Authenticator on your phone and click the + button. Then click “Work or school account”.

  6. Choose Scan a QR code option that pops up.

     

  7. Scan the QR code displayed on the computer screen with your iOS or Android device and then click Allow to let Microsoft Authenticator send notifications.

  8. Click Next on the computer screen shown below.

WARNING: The QR code below is just an example. You must scan the QR code you receive after following these instructions.

NOTE: To scan the QR code, you need to use the Microsoft Authenticator app, not your camera app.

  2. A randomly generated number will be displayed on the next screen as shown below. On your phone a notification will appear from Microsoft Authenticator. Enter the number displayed on the screen into the Microsoft Authenticator notification and click Yes.

You have successfully activated the Microsoft Authenticator app on your iOS or Android device.
