Cisco Jabber for Windows streamlines communications and enhances productivity by unifying presence, instant messaging, video, voice, voice messaging, screen sharing, and conferencing capabilities securely into one client on your desktop.

Instructions

To set up Cisco Jabber on your desktop/laptop computer, please do the following:

On your desktop, you should have the Cisco Jabber icon.  If you do not have the icon on your desktop, you can go to the search area on the bottom left of your computer and search for Jabber.  Double click the icon or select the program from the search area.

 

Cisco Jabber will start up and come up to the follow screen:

From here, please enter your email address and then press the continue button.  Jabber will say it is finding services and once it finds the services will come up with the following screen:

Now please enter your Windows password and then hit the Sign In button.  Cisco Jabber will then log you into your phone.  At the beginning you will see that the phone is not yet connected.  You can see this status at the bottom left of your Jabber program:

But eventually this red X should go away.  Once it goes away your phone should be operational. (If the red X doesn’t go away, please contact the IT Helpdesk).

To make a call from your Cisco Jabber, simply put in the phone number in the Search or call window as shown in the picture below.  After you have the extension or phone number in the Search or call window, a green phone icon will appear.  Press that and the call is made:

**Please remember that this is a NTC phone and that calls made outside of the college need to have an 8 at the beginning of the phone number.

When someone calls your phone, you will see the indication in the bottom right corner of your screen.  Simply click the Answer button.

Once a call has been answered the call control window appears.  From here you can do various things:

Mute your line

Show/Hide video (other end must have a video capable phone like Jabber or NTC Phone).

Share screen with another Jabber participant

Bring up a dial pad

More Feature within here (Hold, Transfer, Merge, Conference)

Hold – If you place a person on Hold, after placing them on hold you will then see a green Resume button.  Click on it to get the call back

Transfer – Press this is you want to transfer a call. 

o   Once you press this you will be shown the following:

o   Enter in the extension or phone number you want to transfer the call to and then press enter.

o   Once you press enter the caller is placed on hold and a new call is placed to the number you want to transfer the call to and a green Transfer button is shown.  Press the green Transfer button to finish transferring the call:

End the call
