Create a Teams Group and Channel

  1. Click on Teams on the left-hand side, then click on join or create team.

  1. Under the templates, click on the staff template.

  1. Click use this template.

  1. Click private.

WARNING: Only select Private, Public Teams can be searched.

  1. Name your Team and give it a description.

  1. Add members to your Team. Click add.

  1. Your team is now created! You can now add channels to the team.

NOTE: You do need to have access to create a channel in your Teams group, unless you created the Team.

 

  1. Go into your Team and click the three dots next to the Team name.

  1. Click add channel.

  1. Enter in your new channel name, channel description, and select private as the channel type.

WARNING: Teams channels should be made private to restrict access to only the members of the channel. If it is public, anyone in the Team can access the channel.

  1. Click create.

  1. Add your members to the private channel.

  1. You are now able to add posts/discussions to your new channel.

NOTE: Do not create shared for channel. If you need a shared channel, call the NTC IT Help Desk to ensure it is shared correctly.
